National Center for Appropriate Technology
I joined the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) looking for a little more stability for my growing family and also found a cause in sustainable agriculture. The ATTRA program, for which NCAT is most known, became the backbone of my work and I helped create the communications and outreach strategy for the northeast office, based in Keene, NH. I also began to develop a specialty using my communications and community development background for farm marketing and branding. I looked deeper into the question: how does a small farm business connect with their clientele? How do they build community around their brand? With NCAT, I was able to flex many sides of my professional self: writing and researching, project management, development, education, and communications.
Published materials from NCAT include:
“Community Supported Agriculture”, an ATTRA Sustainable Agriculture publication,
“Farm Branding”, a forthcoming ATTRA Sustainable Agriculture publication in final editing,
“Maintaining Your Tractor”, a series of five educational videos,
“A Conversation with Atina Diffley” and “Community Gardens and Sustainable Agriculture” podcasts,
and various tutorials, webinars, and COVID-friendly educational videos and trainings.
