Finding a job at Umicore helped enable me and my family to make the move across the Atlantic and settle in Germany. I work with the Digital Workplace Team, whose goal is to help employees navigate Microsoft’s Office 365 suite to get the most efficiency and effectiveness out of their work. Umicore is a multi-national corporation with a closed-loop business model. Simply put, they recycle precious metals and turn them into new products which range from smartphone glass to fertilizer, to zippers, to catalytic converters… 11,000 employees contribute to this all over the globe - and my job is to build up a community-based, knowledge-sharing network to help them all connect with each other.

My biggest responsibilities at Umicore are:

• Internal communications on topics pertaining to the digital workplace and hybrid work

• Managing the Digital Hero Community of 300 individuals in the company who support their colleagues in navigating the digital workplace.

• Supporting and providing education to the Community Facilitation Network of community managers at Umicore so that they can better manage their communities.

• Developing and implementing “Digital Collaboration Coaching” in which our Digital Workplace Team works directly with small teams to help them build their own collaboration workflows and habits.
